From Mochitsuki Committee

Our annual mochitsuki was held on January 12 and we were again blessed with great weather. There were a total of 524 attendees and we raised $983.00. We were very impressed and thankful for the great performance by L.A. Matsuri Daiko. By issuing tickets for the mochi and passing out zenzai, everything went smoothly. We feel we had a successful event.
To all the volunteers, KNI teachers, and teachers of the Japanese class, we thank you very much for all your support. We will use the donation to purchase supplies so we can continue doing the mochitsuki event. We look forward to seeing everyone at the next mochitsuki!

Chef Akira’s Cooking Class

We will again be hosting a cooking demonstration by owner and chef Akira Hirose from “Maison Akira” on March, 12 (Wednesday) from 8:45-11:30AM. We will be providing childcare (including younger children who are not KNI students) so please feel free to attend with your children. Tasting can be done together with your child. We will provide more details including menu and cost when it becomes available. This information will be circulated by email or posted on the bulletin board. For English only participants, we plan to distribute English recipes. Please take this opportunity to learn about authentic French cuisine by a renowned chef so you can cook this delicious meal at home. Come and join us!!

KNI Bazaar

The Parent Association is planning to have their annual KNI bazaar. The date has not been fixed yet but it will most likely be held on the Saturday prior to spring break from 11:00-14:00. Proceeds from this event will go to the Parent Association and also be donated to the relief fund for Great East Japan earthquake. We will be collecting donations (books, toys, children’s clothing, children items, etc.) at the beginning of February. We are also planning to sell baked goods, food, and craftwork, as well as having a kid’s area with games. Details will be posted on the bulletin board and distributed by the class mothers. Similar to last year, we will also be accepting corporate donations so if any of your family members or friends would like to make a donation, please inform your class mother or the Parent Association.

Fundraising

We have distributed the gift card catalog (Script) form. We believe there is ample time until the due date (3/1) so please ask your friends to place orders! You can also view the full gift card list on the KNI homepage.
We will also be distributing another catalog (Aspire) where you can order items. There are many delicious treats and cute items so we hope you will enjoy it. (I ordered Christmas chocolates from last year’s catalog. I received many praises that they were delicious.) We will take orders for 2 weeks beginning the middle of February. The website can also be found on KNI homepage so you can view it prior to receiving the catalog.
