what's happening in this month..

No wonder it's been so cold these days, it's already December! December means it’s time for the Christmas Event at KNI. The kids are working very hard practicing their songs and performances during class. We hope you, your family, relatives and friends will all come to see their special performances.

From the Event Committee

Have you already started making photo ornaments and felted ornaments? The due date is Friday, December 13th and the ornaments will be used to decorate the Christmas trees at the Christmas Event.

We are asking for in-kind donations for the Christmas Event and Mochi Pounding Event. Please find the Sign-up sheet by the attendance sheet, on the table in front of the entrance to the school. Please make sure to attach your names to the donation items and bring them to KNI by Monday, December 16th.

We would like to express special thanks to those listed below who made generous donations for this year's Christmas Event. These items will be used as snacks and drinks during the intermission, and presents for the kids.

Starbucks -- Coffee (100 cups of regular coffee and 50 cups of decaf)
Burkett Produce -- 300 mini doughnuts
Sugarbird Sweets & Teas --- 150 mini scones
Nishimoto Trading --- Variety of snacks (ie Pretz and Rice Crackers)
JFC --- Pocky Sticks, Animal Crackers, Shrimp Crackers
Marlyn Osugi --- Christmas Tree
Emiko Ikudome --- Christmas Tree

Our annual Mochi Pounding Event is scheduled for Sunday, January 12 at 1pm. It's a very popular event that celebrates a very special Japanese cultural tradition. We look forward to seeing many of you there.

From the Fundraising Committee

Time flew by so fast and it's already December. We've had a variety of fundraising opportunities since the beginning of the school year including the latest one, Scrip. Thank you very much for your participation.

We will continue to look for more fundraising opportunities that are easy and fun for you, and your comments and suggestions are always welcome and much appreciated.

There are some more aprons with the KNI logo and Tote bags for Japanese School left. Please come to the office directly or ask the teachers if you are interested in purchasing them.

Thank you very much and we look forward to working with you more next year.
