$10,000 Project

1. Replacing the wooden frame around the play structure with rubber material to contain sand----Completed.
2. Constructing a foot-washing area at the entrance to the school building -- Construction to be started during President's Day weekend in February

Sand Issue

It has been decided that students as well as parents take our shoes off before entering the church hall. Therefore please remember to bring your own slippers when using the church hall.
We were supposed to pay $200.00 cleaning fee per church hall use (for our special events) to the church since last year. However, now the church told the school that we no longer have to pay the cleaning fee. This is because our school explained about our new no-shoes-on policy in a church hall at the church board meeting and Christmas event committee members thoroughly cleaned the church hall after the Christmas Event. Let's keep our good work to keep the church dust free.

From Mochi Pounding Festival Committee

Mochi Pounding Festival on January 11 ended with a huge success. We had 500 participants on a beautiful sunny day and we have raised $752.30 at this event. We had lots of help from both signed-up volunteers and non-signed up helpers. Thank you so much for your support. Mikawaya has loaned us two Japanese traditional mortars. We also got the ingredients for a discounted price or as donations from generous Kodomo no Ie families. Those include mochi rice from Iida family from Renge class, red bean paste from LITTLE CRESCENT, and daikon radishes from Furukawa Family (current member of the Mochi Pounding Festival Committee). Thank you so much for your generosity!

From Library Committee

The check-out log has been moved to the area near the window on your right as you are entering the Children's Book Room. For your convenience, we keep the due date finder board, a calendar, pens, and plastic bags all together there as well. Please use these plastic bags when you are checking out materials, and write down check-out date, your name, the name of your child's class on the plastic bag. Please use the same bag to return the materials. Return date column is for school use only. Materials can be checked out for TWO WEEKS. Your own plastic bags can also be used as well. Please remember to include all the necessary information on the plastic bag mentioned above. Please also make sure that the checked out video tapes are re-wound to the beginning before they are returned. Also, please make sure that the video tapes are in corresponding video cases.

The due date for Box Top is February 20.

Stay alert in Cold and Flu Season

-Go to bed early and get up early! (Get plenty of sleep)
-Eat a balanced diet!
-Eat lots of vitamin C rich foods!
-Make sure that the rooms do not get too dry!
-If you catch a cold, keep yourself hydrated and visit your doctor ASAP!

From the Director

We have a two-week spring break every year. This coming Spring break starts on Wednesday April 8th and ends on Tuesday April 21. Please note that the schedule for spring break has been changed and is different from the original plan.
