From Sports Day Event Committee Members

Our children’s long-awaited Sports Day Event is going to be held on May 20th! We ask all the parents’ participation to make this event memorable for our children. Thanks very much for signing up for the volunteer work shifts. The person in charge of each assignment will contact you soon and give you details.
 
Also, high school student volunteers will help in many areas in this event as they did last year. Please say hello and thank them when you see them working at the event.
 
There will be opportunities for young children who are not yet preschoolers and also for elementary school children (whether they are KNI alumni or not) and parents of KNI to participate at this event! Please come and be part of this fun event. Let’s have lots of fun and make this KNI’s biggest event a truly a memorable day for all of us.
 

Obento (lunch box) Order

Lunch order must be placed by Tuesday May 8th, Tozai Market will provide a yummy lunch box again this year. Please see the photos of sample lunch boxes at KNI for details. Please note that lunch order or cancellation after the due date cannot be accepted.
 
Important Notes: As a result of our strategy to promote efficiency in volunteer work, there will be no parking controller this year. We ask that you try to refrain from parking in the lot B, the closest parking lot to the sport day event site, for those who bring heavy and large items such as EZ up tents to the events. Please do not park in this lot and park your car in other lots. If you do need to load something heavy and large and would like to drive them closer, we will also have loading zone near the sporting event site for your use. In addition, disabled parking will be available in lot B near the event site. Please look out for disabled parking sign on the fencing.
 
Please have courtesy and respect for other drivers when you park your car.  If you are early, please start parking from the farthest end of the parking lot in an orderly fashion. 
 

Report on Cooking Class with Akira san, the owner chef of French restaurant “Maison Akira.” by Karina Yamaguchi

 
Cooking Class with Akira san held on April 11th was a huge success. We have received so many positive feedbacks including “very satisfied with the foods Akira san cooked for us!,” “It was a valuable learning experience as I usually do not cook French foods at home,” “Child care was very helpful and it was such a great event.” Many thanks go to Miwa sensei who babysat some of the children. In addition, we would like to thank our volunteers for their hard work. We thank Fumiyo Kitazawa, Yoko Pierce, Naomi Borrelli, and Junko Yamauchi for their help. Without these volunteers, this event would not have been possible! Please do not miss such a fun opportunity next year if you missed this one!
 
##Announcements
We are still recruiting Parent Association Board members. Some board members such as the fundraising board members do not require regular attendance to the monthly class mother meetings. Please feel free to speak to class mothers and/or board members if you have any questions or are interested in volunteering.
