From the Sports Day Committee

Although it was a bit chilly day, the weather we worried about stayed dry all day. The Sports Day Committee is truly happy that we are able to complete this year’s Sports Day safely. We are also very happy that we were able to include other KNI activities as a part of the Sports Day, such as T-shirt Committee and Saturday Class water bottle sales to support Japan. Thank you so much for countless parents’ help and support for this event. Thanks to everyone, our children had another fun-filled memory. We’d like to take this occasion to express our gratitude to you all.

After the end of May, you may not check out any books/videos. Please make sure to return any books/videos you may have before KNI summer vacation starts. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

From the Charity Bazaar Committee

Our total sales reached $3,742.26 (including donation dollars) from the April 30 Charity Bazaar and Additional Sales that was held following week!! This has been made possible thanks to support from each one of you. All of the $3,742.26 is being sent to Consulate General of Japan, and will be used for Tsunami victims and Relief activities through Japan Red Cross. We truly appreciate everyone’s donation and support. Thank you so much.

News from Parents Association

Parents Association board is currently discussing and reviewing details of major restructuring of the Association starting next school year (It is not finalized yet. Still under discussion and reviews).

Active member: Approximately 20 parents (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Events, Fundraising, Class Mothers, etc) - Parents Association fee waived

General member: Mandatory volunteer work for one of 3 major KNI events on the day of the event
- Parents Association fee $50

If Active Member spots are not filled, it will be filled by lot drawing.
In the past, we particularly had a hard time to have parents to sign up for event volunteers. Since all 3 major KNI events cannot be held without many parents’ volunteer work, we will cut the number of Fundraising Committee members (only limited number of families are currently participating in fundraising activities). As a result, Parents Association fee will go up. This is to cut down KNI volunteer work overall, and to ease the burden on the few hard-working parents who work more than one committee.

When an afternoon class is over, please leave as soon as possible.

We now have music to notify the end of a school day.

Kiku & Ume Class 4:00pm

Hikari Auto

Hikari Auto has sent KNI $186.91 as their donation of this school year. (This is more than twice the amount of last year’s donation!) Hikari Auto donates 3% of sales from KNI families. Please consider having your next oil change done there!
