From the Sports Festival Committee

The eagerly anticipated Sports Festival (Undoukai) will be held on May 22nd!
We'd like to ask for help from parents and family members to make this an event to remember.
We're hoping to get volunteers for each event, drivers with trucks to transport equipmenton the day prior to the event as well as immediately following it, and dads with strong backs to help load and unload. We'd very much appreciate it if everyone could take a look at the sign-up sheets and posters and contribute in any way that they can.

Participation will not be limited to only weekday and Saturday class children, and there will be events open to young children not yet enrolled in KNI as well as elementary school age children (even if they have never attended KNI) and parents as well. We hope to see everyone joining in on the fun. All of us on the Sports Festival Committee, along with the kindergarten and class mothers, will be participating with you all to make this an exciting and memorable event for the whole school!

* May 7th is the deadline for ordering lunchboxes for the event. Please note that we will be unable to accept any additional orders or cancellations after this date.

From the Treasurer

We ask that parents of newly registered students please remember to pay the Parent Association fees. Please consult with your class adviser for additional details.

The donation of all proceeds of the t-shirt sale to the Tohoku Earthquake relief fund as well as the cancellation of the scrip (gift card) sales this year have put a dent in the Parents Association funds. As a means to cover the these losses, we'd like to ask that everyone try to help us out in the following 3 ways:
* Marukai receipts
* Box tops
* Recycling

From the T-Shirt Committee
We would like to thank all of you for the many orders, especially considering that all proceeds will be donated to Japan. We will be working witht he Japanese Consulate in Los Angeles to have the donations sent to the victims of the Tohoku Earthquake. Our t-shirt vendor also donated some goods that were sold during the KNI Bazaar (Apr. 30).

Donation Matching
The $535 in proceeds from the sale of children's crafts, along with the donations received from parents and guardians totaled to $6,290 collected by KNI. Bang Zoom! Entertainment kindly matched this amount, and a grand total of $12,580 was donated to the Red Cross on March 24th.

Donations from the Awesome Playground
A taiko drum performance was held in front of the Awesome Playground on March 27th, and generous passerbys, parents, and guardians raised $300 in donations. The Awesome Playground made a donation as well, helping us raise a grand total of $500 from this event.

KNI Recruiting Committee Members for 2011

We will be selecting new members for next year's committee before summer vacation.
The committee will be comprised of the following members:

Chairperson x 1
Vice Chairperson x 2-3
Clerk x 2-3
Treasurer x 2-3
Would anyone happen to be interested?

We will also be selecting the class mothers for next year on the day of the opening ceremony. This is a great opportunity to not only take part in the Parents Association, but to also give your child a chance to make even more friends. There will be a 90-minute meeting once a month for class mothers, and there are always many friendly KNI students and siblings (both younger and older) hanging around.
