Bazaar

After the bazaar on March 7th, a yard sale was held at the Hartzbergs' on 14th to sell the leftover items. The total profit exceeded $1,000! Big thanks to the committee members; Nami Hayashi, Yumiko Borreson and Tashi Ohnsman, and all the volunteers, helpers and those who donated and came to shop. We will most likely have another one next year, so please save items you can donate.

Papas & Mamas

We are aiming for a paperless newsletter. You can check out the latest Papas & Mamas on KNI website. A limited number of printouts will be provided at KNI.

Akira-san's Cooking Class

The profit from the March 4th class was $70, which will be donated to KNI, the Parents' Association and the church. We are looking for volunteers for next year's cooking class. Those who have participated in a class will be a great asset.

Facility Improvement Committee:

Encho-sensei would like to form a new committee of about 10 parents to work with her to improve the school facilities. Some of the members will work as liaisons between KNI and the church.

Fund (approx. $9,000):
$5,000: new donation
$1,000: Starbucks fundraising from last year
$1,000+: bazaar
$1,950: balance of the $10,000 Project

Here are some ideas and suggestions from the church:
1. Replace windows and floors with more energy efficient materials: This might not work due to the fact that the building is too old to be airtight and that the door is always open
2. Purchase a new storage shed to be placed by the gate
3. Replace the concrete areas of the playground with foam rubber: Too expensive?
4. Build a new room with teachers' long-sought lockers, that PTA can also use for meetings
