October Words of the Month:

"Ohayou (Good morning)" "Konnichiwa (Hello)"

Finally, a nice autumn breeze is here, after the record-breaking hot summer. What a relief!
It's been three weeks into the new semester - children are settling into their new routines.
They are trying hard to find their own places in the new environment.
We teachers would like to carefully watch the process, and wait for the moment when each child finds their own interest and gets engaged in activities of his/her choice.

Goals of the Month

All classes
- Nurture the children's interest in the seasonal changes of nature, such as the shapes and movement of clouds, colors of the sky, the sound of winds, and the feel of air.
- Help the children bring out their curiosity about the budding daikon turnip in the garden and to closely watch its growth.

Nenshou - Junior class
- Assist the children in getting used to separating with their guardian's at drop-off, and to help them find the joy of playing with their classmates and teachers.

Nenchu - Middle class
- Help the children learn the school rules, such as how to use the toys and how to clean up after playing with them.

Nenchou - Senior class

Class Profile

Renge:
Every morning you can hear the loud “Good morning” from the children of the Renge room as they arrive to school.
Some children quickly run inside their classroom to play with their friends while others cry as they part with their mothers, still unfamiliar being alone in the new environment. But those tears quickly change to smiles by the time they leave the school.
The children of the Renge room love singing, eating snacks, and playing together.
Ms. Hashiba looks forward to finding many fun things to do together.

Momo:
There are many new friends who started Kodomo no Ie in the Momo room.
They quickly learned where to place their bag and shoes so they are able to clean up on their own.
The Momo children enjoy the morning “Janken exercise” as they energetically move around.
They also quickly learned the regular routine of the school as they wash their hands, eat snacks, and rinse.
Ms. Kano hopes to have a fun class where all the children will say “we love Kodomo no Ie”.

Kiku:
As the children advance to the kiku room, there are many children eating obento for the first time. They are so proud to be old enough to bring their own obento.
I look forward to keeping up with the power and energy of the kiku room class. There are many types of children: those who were friends from the previous year or those who made new friends.
Ms. Kano hopes that each child’s circle of friends grow this year.

Sumire:
At the entrance ceremony, many children of the Sumire class were seen with their mothers. Lately, this has changed to children proudly waving good bye to their mother. The children are excited to experience their first kindergarten, eating snacks with their friends, and enjoying many different toys.
Ms. Yamamoto hopes the children can find their “favorite thing” and enjoy their time.

Ume:
There are many children arriving with their new bento to the Ume room. You can hear their cheerful greeting “Hello” as they go through the gates. You can also hear them proudly complain “My lunch is so heavy”.
All the children are a little older compared to last year as they proudly say “I am a big girl now” or “I am a big boy now”
Ms. Hashiba is hoping to share different emotions with these energetic children who are eager to take on new challenges.

Sakura:
Many children of the sakura room have spent their mornings at their local kindergarten.
First they spend some time warming up to their friends and then they energetically participate in different activities.
Before leaving school, the children enjoy their last minutes at the playground.
Ms. Umehata is hoping to spend meaningful time with the Sakura room children.

Notice/ Reminder:

We are currently making fertilizer for our garden so please bring your kitchen compost.
Please make sure that all belongings are labeled with your child’s name. There has been an increase in lost & found items.
